Super Bulldog Weekend 2010

Jimbo and I had an exciting, busy, and fun-filled Super Bulldog Weekend. Friday night, Jason & Joanna stayed with us and we met some fun friends at the Veranda for a night-before-the-5k meal. We all ran the race the next morning and it was so much fun to meet these friends to kick off the weekend!Joanna, Emily, Me, and Heather @ the Veranda
The next morning came EARLY! Somehow, we talked my dad into running the 5k with us, so it was quite the family event! After a quick pit stop at CVS to get new i-pod earphones for Jimbo, gum for me (I decided I can't run without it), and some Vitamin Water, we were off and ready to run. We met Jason & Joanna, my parents (my mom came for moral support, of course!), and the rest of the crew in the Cotton District. There was only so much stretching we could do, so we took the opportunity for a "before" photo op.And... We Did It!! Keep in mind Jimbo & I decided to run this little gig 2 weeks ago, so we were pretty proud of ourselves (and our 26 minute times...)
I must brag for a moment and say the McNeel family really pulled through. My sister-in-law Joanna--- 1st place for her age group. Awesome. Even Awesome-er-est? My Father!! Yes, my dad. Got a trophy. Placed in his age group.Of course, we had to take the "After" pictures:(back) Dad, Jimbo, Jason, Jonathan, Will, Tom
(front) Me, Joanna, Meredith, Emily, Heatherwhy we all decided to do a cheerleader pose in front of our husbands, I do not know, but after a 3 mile run, I can tell you-- the legs were feeling it!And finally, another picture from the 5k to show my mom really was there. Joanna disappeared... probably doing some sort of winner's thing we weren't invited to.
After, we all came back to the Hearnsberger Home where we showered, relaxed, and were treated to my mom's wonderful breakfast. Why is everything so much better when your mom makes it? But, no rest for long. The Cotton District Arts Festival and the MSU sports events were waiting...
We had to capture Joanna's first Left Field Lounge Experience!
Joanna & Me @ MSU Baseball Game
Finally, we met up with the the Menetres! Jimbo and I love when Bailey & Gracie stay with us in Starkville, and this weekend was no different. Of course, we let them down a bit considering we weren't quite up for a big night out after our long day, but we did enjoy a partial night out at Sushi Martini!with Bailey & Gracie out on the town
So, there is my weekend recap. Dear Menetres, next time you come back we will be more fun and will not have to take your car home, drop you off on Main Street on the way, and make you listen to your son's Mickey Mouse PlayHouse DVD for a little pre-game music.

Thursday's Thoughts

I'm lucky, really. Do you have a very best friend? Someone you make sure never misses a beat in your life? Someone you even make sure approves an outfit or big purchase before you buy it? I do... and while it should be my husband, I can't say I seek his approval on purchases since I try to race home to sneak packages off the front door step when I haven't exactly told him about some purchases... I do have a best friend like that. Her name is Jordan. And, lucky for me, we both have jobs where we can g-chat. And boy, do we g-chat. I wish you could read some of our random messages throughout the day; someday, I may copy and paste one, but then, I may lose you as a friend after you see the randomness of our conversations. Recently, however, we have been g-chatting fashion. See, in college I would walk into Jordan's room before a big night out and she would quickly let me know she did not approve of my outfit. However, she recently g-chatted me that she --- this is BIG --- now finds me to be fashionable and knowledgeable towards style. I was shocked. That is huge, coming from Jordan! Well, that started the search for the shoes... Do you see these pretties?

Yep, she got 'em! After days of g-chatting, internet searching, and discount digging (which we really didn't find one), she ordered them. I was just happy to be part of the search after her revelation of my apparent new founded stylishness. But no, we weren't done. Then... she got this:

If you keep up with the celebutantes, the tabloids, and latest names, you are probably salivating right now over her purchases. I am. Then we started talking about what is on my wish list. I told her Ikat is all the rage right now, especially Ikat tunics, and it's on my list. So, I thought I'd share. Have you noticed the Ikat obsession of late? It's not new, by any means. Ikat fabrics themselves have been centuries in the making, and there is a certain Ikat fabric (see the Indigo blue & white pillow below?) that I have been stalking for about a year and half now. If I had the funds, I would do a whole room in it. I love it THAT much.

Ikat

Ikat isn't new to fashion, it's been showing up on styles for a couple years now. But have you caught onto the Ikat Tunic rage? Oh my, they're Eeeevvverywhere this season! So, there you have it. If you happen to bee-bopping down the street, run into my husband, and he mentions he'd like to buy me a happy, point him to anything Ikat. I'll love it, I promise.

Easter, Mollie, and New Challenges

Okay, so I thought I would be better at keeping up with this whole blogging thing. But, in my defense, there are several reasons that I have not blogged since my last (and first) post: 1) I showed the first post to Jimbo and he said "You usually write better than that." Not a confidence blogger booster, let me tell ya. 2) I can't find my camera cord so I put new pictures up. 3) I can't bring myself to post about the honeymoon. It was wonderful, but I'm not too keen on posting pictures of me in my swimsuit for all of you to dissect, so I'm skipping the honeymoon post. Maybe one day....

Let me back up. On March 4, my brother Taylor and his wife Jessica welcome their beautiful daughter, Mollie Hart McNeel, into the world! We have waited so long for this precious girl! I really, really wish that my camera would plug into my computer right now so I could share an obnoxious amount of pictures of parents + baby, but for now the pictures I have already on my computer will have to suffice.
The iphone pictures that are on my email do not do this little beauty justice, so I decided not to post anymore. Plus, I feel like I should get her parents' permission first... I'll have to look into that! Hopefully, I'll get my camera up and running soon!

Jimbo & I had a wonderful Easter yesterday with my family. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see Taylor, Jessica, and Baby Mollie, but we DID enjoy going to Church in Louisville with my parents, and the other family newlyweds- brother Jason and wife Joanna!
Again, no recent pictures on my camera, so here's a family photo that was taken in December, just posting it in honor of spending time with sweet family yesterday for Easter! (yes, my dad's eyes are closed). Jason & Joanna, Mom & Dad, Jimbo and me, and Taylor & Jessica.

Okay, finally... onto New Challenges... Jason challenged Jimbo and I to run the 5K with him, Joanna, and friends Super Bulldog Weekend. Let me clarify something, I have not run in a really, really, really long time. So, while I am aware that this is no marathon (it's "ONLY" 3 miles I've been told), this is BIG for me. Oh, and the fact that we decided 17 days from the 5K race that we would do it. The bright side is, it was a fun excuse to get new tennis shoes, and now I've got my eye on fun little running outfits. The only problem is they're, well, little. Apparently, to wear cute runner's outfits, you have to have the body of a cute little runner. But pray for us friends... Everyday after work, while you are relaxing, think of poor us out there just trying to make it 3 whole miles. (We haven't yet... we've been at it for 7 days). Whew, I'm tired just thinking about it!! So, I'm going to search for my camera cord after work (and after my run, of course) so I can hopefully have more fun posts. I think posts are always more fun with pictures!
